Storm King’s Thunder 01/10/2025

Last time, our heroes were ready to head out to Brynn Shander. They planned to meet up with Aroboe’s dad and plan to sneak into the Frost Giant army’s camp to steal the magic conch Jarl Storvald possesses.

After passing through the secret Harper teleportation circle, they found themselves in a snowy, run down building. They are greeted by Ghesh, a black dragonborn dressed in loose rags. He is their contact and much like Trowa, a reluctant Harper asset. He shows the party around the house the Harpers are letting him use as a base, which he’s turned into a refuge for people in the Ten Towns, along with showing the library of books he is apparently supposed to be studying to join the Arcane Brotherhood in Neverwinter.

The party asks him about Harshnag and the town guard, and Ghesh takes them to his friend Rinn Erro. Rinn is an assistant to the town Speaker and doesn’t seem thrilled at Ghesh’s approach. After some convincing, Rinn tells Ghesh and the party that Harshnag and a contingent of the town guard went to investigate reports of a Frost Giant raiding party moving away from the main army. The city was worried about possibly a plan to flank them, but were unsure.

Rinn also gets them a letter for Gunter Brixton, the Captain of the Guard. With it, they’re able to borrow some Axebeaks to chase after Harshnag. While their upgraded gear helps prevent the worst of the cold, the magical cold currently plaguing the Ten Towns does cause them a little trouble.

Come night fall, the party finds a firey blaze in a clearing of trees. Frost Giants are fighting with the Brynn Shander town guard, while Harshnag duels a massive, seemingly mutated giant Aroboe recognizes as an “Everlasting One”. The group quickly assist, and while some people are nearly killed, the party comes out victorious. After the fight, Harshnag explains that the Everlasting Ones are Frost Giants cursed/blessed by a dark god after eating a Troll. They possess great strength and regenerative abilities, but are usually shunned by Giant society for their cannabalistic ways. Harshnag is worried about what Jarl Storvald’s willingness to work with them would mean.

The combined party make camp, and try to rest up as they decide what to do next.
