The party got the jump on the crag cats thanks to Trowa’s alarm. Bohdan tried to make themselves appear big and scary to frighten off the cats, but found the hunters too eager for a meal, and was forced to attack with their scythe. Trowa cast Haste on Alphonse who in his magical rage became a teleporting, rushing beam of fey fury. The group made quick work of the cats, and spent time discussing if they wanted to keep the furs.
They continued down the path, and eventually figure out that the that the rumbling noise they were hearing was actually the sound of loud marching. Further along, they come across three Frost Giants sitting at a crossroads. After some discussion of how to approach, Trowa cast invisibility on himself and Bohdan, and Bohdan prepared a way notify Alphonse to approach, and they headed off to try and drop some eaves.
However, their plan failed when they realized none of them spoke Giant, which is what the Frost Giants were saying to each other. However, they did pick up on the name Harshnag, who is a legendary hero known throughout Faerun. So it seemed they were discussing the Frost Giant hero of Waterdeep. Satisfied they learned all they would know, they summoned Alphonse to approach. Hoping they might recognize Al’s strength and allow them passage, he walked up to the Giants, head held high.
The Giants were less than impressed and taunted the fairy, who in turn challenged the Giants back. This started battle. Alphonse hammered on the Giants, his hammer doing extra damage due to their metal armor. Bohdan dimension Door-ed over to another of the Giants and sliced with their scythe, before nearly being flung off. And Trowa threw a fireball, and banished another of the combatants.
After a few rounds, with the Frost Giants getting some powerful hits in, nearly bringing Bohdan to their knees, the party is victorious over the Giants. Tired and bleeding, they see another Frost Giant approaching, but he is different, and does not attack the party. It is Harshnag, Hero of Waterdeep, who is surprised the party was so successful in the battle. Not wanting to deal with the banished Giant, Trowa suggests they get away before he comes back, and Harshnag leads the party to his camp.
